Site survey & recommendation

  • Homeowner advised by the local water authority of a potential leak on their private supply pipe
  • On-site investigation confirmed the leak underground along the existing copper service line
  • Property had a newly installed resin driveway and a solid internal concrete floor
  • Full renewal recommended over a localised repair to avoid unnecessary damage to these surfaces
  • Full underground service trace completed to identify existing gas, electric and drainage routes
  • All planning and excavation carried out to Water Regulations and HSG47 safety requirements

Installation & access

  • Five compact access excavations created along the supply route
  • Trenchless moling used to keep the resin driveway intact
  • New 25mm MDPE installed from the boundary stop tap to the property, replacing the outdated 15mm copper line
  • INSUDuct system used to bring the pipe through the solid concrete floor without breaking out the slab
  • Internal stop valve relocated to a more convenient position outside the kitchen, original valve isolated and capped
  • All works carried out by WIAPS and WaterSafe approved engineers

Results

All excavations were backfilled in layers and mechanically compacted to prevent future settlement. The resin driveway, turf, grass, and block edging were fully reinstated to their original appearance.

The new MDPE supply was pressure-tested, chlorinated, and commissioned, providing the homeowner with a durable, regulation-compliant water line. A Compliance Certificate was issued to both the homeowner and the local water authority, confirming full adherence to UK Water Regulations.
